For the last few years I have served as the principal violist for the Trinity Chamber Orchestra. Last year when we were talking about what we would like to see programmed for the upcoming year I mentioned that the Bruch "Romanze" is a beautiful short piece for viola and orchestra that might work well. To my complete shock they loved the idea and actually programmed it with me as the soloist! For me that was a "bucket list" moment because if I only got to play with an orchestra once in my life as a soloist that is the piece I would pick. The concert was scheduled for late March 2012 and I was so lucky to have the support of tons of amazing people. Our out of town attendees included Kris's parents, my parents, Meg and her Mom. The locals included Craig, Jake, Brooke and two of Kris's students. We turned the concert into a whole weekend event which included checking out Fells Point in Baltimore, eating dinner at the M&S Grill in the Inner Harbor and going to Mongolian BBQ after the concert for dinner. The performance went well (although you'll never catch me listening to the recording!) and I received a lot of meaningful complements afterwards (including one from a member of the viola section of the National Symphony). Meg had her camera with her and willingly took tons of photos (including some new headshots for me to use).
