Christmas 2011

Christmas this year was spent in Pittsburgh. Normally we would have spent New Year's with Kris's parents but they had a wedding to attend on December 31st so we did Christmas with his side over Thanksgiving. When we are in Pittsburgh the tradition on Christmas Eve is to attend the last candelight service at Westminster (the church I grew up in and that we got married in), exchange gifts with Meg and Greg and read the Night Before Christmas. The next morning Kris and I get up and attend Christmas Day Mass with my Dad at St. Bernard's Catholic Church (the church my Dad grew up in) and then return home to see what Santa left. Here are some shots from Christmas Eve before we left for church:

As usual Santa left waaaay too many presents. Apparently his definition of "good" has a lot of wiggle room ;)

My Mom did the poinsettia arrangement for the top of the mantle. And yes Kris has a Yoda stocking!!

My Mom's pretty centerpiece, it looked even better in person!

We all received some amazing gifts however this year the "big" gift for Kris and I couldn't quite fit under the tree. Since my parents hadn't done much to the house since we got married there was never really a guest room. My childhood bedroom was still set and while I love it for posterity sake trying to sleep in a waterbed the size of 1.5 twin beds is a bit difficult with two people especially when there is a disparity of size. This year my Mom and Dad took the old "playroom" (or practice room as it had come to be called more recently) and did a renovation to turn it into a guest room paradise. I already have my heart set on this bed frame and I keep telling Kris I want it to be a queen size so we can take it home with us. I wish I had some pictures of the room before the renovation so you could see the before and after but alas all I have is the finished product.
Yes the linens on the side can be released so the whole bed can be enclosed like a princess bed!!
It was another amazing Christmas and we are so thankful for all the blessings God continues to bestow upon us.
