It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.....

As Christmas approached everyone was getting very excited about Santa's impending visit :) Even Frosty joined in the mix.....
Brooke was going through a phase where for the life of me I couldn't get her to go to any special events or story times. I had her signed up for a Polar Express one and it was a no go for her. This was the one and only story time I could get her to go to in December!!!

Now before we discuss the holidays of 2011/2012 let's take a trip down memory lane...this is actually stemming from the fact that I just found a folder of some old pictures that I decided were blog worthy. An annual Christmas tradition for Kris and I since we got married has been to attend the Ice! Show at the National Harbor in DC. (Note National Harbor, DC *not* Inner Harbor, MD). It's actually a really neat area of DC, right across the Harbor from downtown. It clearly still in the developing stages however there's already a ton of really neat shops and restaurants in the area. Every year they design this HUGE ice exhibit with a different theme in mind. In 2011 it was Madagascar, 2010 was Grinch and 2009 was just a collection of holiday scenes. Before this I had no clue what was possible with ice and every year I am just blown away by what the artists are able to create! These pictures are from our first year, 2009. Sorry for the mass quantity but there are so many great ones and Kris did an awesome job getting each and every ice sculpture.
Since they have to keep the temp in the teens for the ice you get to wear these stylish parkas!

The first room had sculptures of many of the monuments from downtown D.C.

They even froze the lights into the ice!

This is the slide room that they have every year

The big man himself

This room was supposed to be a toy factory so they put a "real" one of everything followed by 2 ice sculptures imitating it

Pretty angel but it was a kind of creepy room. Very Phantom of the Opera - Angel of Music-esque

This is one of my favorite parts every year. This nativity scene is unreal.
